Frequently asked questions
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The cost of a photography session may vary depending on the type of session and location. For instance, if we need to shoot indoors in a studio or outdoors, the price may differ. If you're looking to have a boudoir photography session, it's best to get a high-end hotel room, which may hike up the price. To get a better idea and discuss the available options, please contact me directly.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always prefer to see the model before the photoshoot, whether it's a few days or just a few hours before. Otherwise, we communicate through email, text, or phone call to discuss the location, type of shoot, duration, budget, and expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started my photography journey when I was 15 years old, and began working as a freelance photographer 13 years ago. Four years ago, I established Symbolix Photography. The power of a photograph has always fascinated me. I specialize in fashion, glamour, and boudoir photography as I love capturing the hidden beauty of people. It's amazing how different each person can look at times, and it's only by capturing that moment that you can freeze that particular face, expression, or gesture.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
First as a hobby, now as an independent professional.
Is it your full-time job?
Yes! I've been a full-time photographer since February 2016. Before that, I was working as a graphic designer for my own company in France and in the US from 2014.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When working with a photographer, it's important to get to know them beforehand. You'll be spending a significant amount of time with them, so it's best if they have a cool and relaxed attitude that makes you feel comfortable. Bring your own ideas and vision to the table, and discuss what you love most about yourself, which angles or profiles you think are best, what you dislike, and what you don't want to see in the photos. Additionally, it's always a good idea to talk about the editing process.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
How many people will be attending? Will I have privacy to change or apply makeup? Do you provide a contract? Will I have the opportunity to review all photos before they are published? What if I am not satisfied with the pictures? Do you edit out skin imperfections? Can I request additional edits?
As a man, how do you deal with women who want boudoir photography?
The key is to meet the person beforehand. If you don't appear genuine and sincere, there's a high chance that the client won't choose to work with you. As a photographer, I focus on my work and the artistic aspect, and I specialize in boudoir photography because it's one of the areas of photography that I enjoy the most in terms of creativity. I pay attention to every detail to provide my client with the best possible result, and it's a lot of hard work. A decent and genuine photographer is attracted to the creative process and strives for absolute perfection in terms of lighting, composition, and so on. There's no perversion involved in boudoir photography. It's like trying to capture a bee landing on a flower, and if you miss the right moment, you have to try again. Unfortunately, there are many fake and immature photographers who break the rules, and that's very unfortunate.
